ABOUT SEA BASS

Distribution: Golden-eyed sea bass (scientific name: Lates calcarifer, commonly known as barramundi or Asian seabass) is an eurythermal and euryhaline fish. It is native to the tropical and subtropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific Ocean, including the waters of Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia), the northern waters of Australia, and the Red Sea. In China, it is mainly distributed in the South China Sea, East China Sea, and waters around Taiwan. Large-scale mariculture of golden-eyed sea bass has been realized, with coastal provinces such as Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, and Guangxi as core breeding areas. In some regions, it is cultured in brackish water ponds and high-level ponds to adapt to different water environments.

Nutrition:

High Protein and Low Fat: It contains about 19%-22% protein and has a fat content of less than 3%, making it a high-protein, low-fat fish. Its meat is easy to digest and absorb, making it an ideal choice for fitness and weight-loss groups to supplement high-quality protein.

Rich in Unsaturated Fatty Acids: It is rich in Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids (such as EPA and DHA), which help regulate human blood lipids and have positive effects on brain development and vision protection, suitable for children, the elderly, and office workers.

Abundant in Trace Elements: It contains minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium. Among them, the calcium content is higher than that of most marine fish, which can contribute to bone health. At the same time, it is rich in vitamin A, vitamin D, and B vitamins, which can supplement the micronutrients needed by the human body daily and has a balanced nutritional structure.

OUR ADVANTAGE OF CULTIVATION IN CHINA

1.nature advantage

The water temperature, salinity, and other conditions in China's South China Sea, East China Sea, and other sea areas are suitable for the growth of golden-eyed sea bass. For example, Zhanjiang is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with stable seawater temperature, excellent water quality, and moderately stable salinity. It also has abundant coastal tidal flats and marine resources, providing an excellent breeding ground for golden-eyed sea bass and serving as a natural fishing ground for this species. The golden-eyed sea bass grown here are of superior quality.

2.mature breeding technology

As early as 2014, the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences conquered the all-weather breeding technology for barramundi (golden-eyed sea bass) and promoted its aquaculture in southern China and many Southeast Asian countries, laying a fry foundation for large-scale cultivation.

3.advanced technology for quality and yield improvement

Domestic research has adopted magnetic-optical induction to cultivate barramundi eggs and optimized the water quality for fry rearing, thereby improving the egg hatching rate. Additionally, measures such as scientific feed management have enhanced both the yield and quality of barramundi. For instance, after applying relevant technologies, the hatching rate increased by 21.9% compared with conventional control treatments, and the yield rose by 44.5%.

4.advantage in industrial experience

China has a long history of aquaculture, and farmers have accumulated rich experience. For example, farmers in the coastal areas of Guangdong carry out barramundi pond culture. Through the on-pond graded domestication and rearing technology, the survival rate of barramundi has increased from the previous average of less than 20% to over 45.1%, providing a guarantee for the stable and increased production of barramundi.
